Cinema in the Skies: Highlights from Le Temps des Hélices 2025
The 52nd edition of Le Temps des Hélices returned to the iconic hilltop grass airfield of La Ferté Alais on June 7–8, 2025. As one of the European's important meeting of vintage aviation, the event once again transformed the Cerny aerodrome into a living museum of flight.
A Cinematic Theme
The 2025 show was uniquely themed "Cinema in the Skies," celebrating the legendary aircraft that have graced the silver screen. Attendees were treated to thematic tableaux featuring planes associated with blockbuster franchises like James Bond, Indiana Jones, and Mission: Impossible. This immersive experience extended beyond the flying displays to include ground exhibitions and historical re-enactments.
Vintage Aviation Highlights
Despite challenging winds that grounded some of the more delicate pioneer-era aircraft, the flight program remained a spectacular five-hour daily event.
- Propeller Icons: The skies were filled with nearly 100 historic aircraft, including the legendary R4D (US Navy variant fo the Douglas C-47) "Ready 4 Duty" and the P-51 Mustang.
- The "Time of the Aces": World War I history was brought to life through appearances by the Fokker Dr.I Dreidecker triplane and S.E.5 replicas.
- Dynamic Displays: By the Patrouille de France, Equipe de Voltige de l'Armée de l'Air et l'Espace, A400 Tactical demo and Richard Goodwin in the Pitts, the Firetracker, a modern contrast to the vintage displays of the T6 'Tora Tora' and the Stearmans.
The Spirit of La Ferté Alais Airshow
Organised by the Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis (AJBS), the event drew approximately 40,000 enthusiasts. While some modern military favorites like the Rafale Solo Display were absent this year, the focus remained firmly on heritage. Between the static displays where visitors could meet pilots and the roaring displays overhead, 2025 solidified Le Temps des Hélices as a tradition that no aviation fan should miss.
